We require couriers to register to prevent spamming, and invalid or inappropriate quotes being submitted on boxby. So that we know that you are a properly established business, so that we have all the appropriate details to contact you when customers take up your quotes, and so we can pay you.
Do you charge for registration?
No. Registration is free for couriers and delivery companies.
How do I quote?
You will be paid the figure that you quote in full. So if you are VAT registered it is important that you include the VAT, and quote the gross amount not the net. If you are not VAT registered then Boxby needs to add a 17.5% margin onto the price that you quote, this is because Boxby is VAT registered, and must pay VAT on the total price paid by the customer. A mark up as shown here is added to your quotation. This is the figure that is then shown to the customer.
Do you make any deductions from my quote or charge any fees?
We pay all couriers the price that they quote in full. So if you are VAT registered please ensure that you always quote the gross amount.
What about additional information?
There is a box provided on the quote form for you to include any additional or relevant information for the delivery. For example perhaps you can only do the job if the item can be collected on a specific date. This box has been provided to give couriers the opportunity to provide relevant job related information. It is not to be used for the purposes of soliciting work away from or outside of Boxby. If any courier uses this box to insert company name, telephone numbers, email or web addresses, their registration will immediately be cancelled.
What do I include in my quote?
Your quote should be the NET price that you are prepared to do the delivery job for. Do not include in your price any VAT, as this will be added to your quote by our system, and do not include in your price any allowance for our fee, as again this will be added to your quote by the system.
What happens after I submit my quote?
Your quotation will have the boxby fee added onto it, and if you are non-VAT registered then the 17.5% markup will be added. This figure is then sent to the customer, it is included in the quotes submitted on the customer’s job, and the customer is notified by email that a new quote has been submitted for their delivery job.
VAT Registered Status
If you are VAT registered it is important that you complete this information in your profile. This ensures that we add the VAT to your quote and pay you the gross amount for your job. This information is included in your “Business Details” part of your profile, and can be edited and updated.
What happens when a customer accepts a quote?
When a customer accepts a quote that triggers the immediate release of the collection & delivery information to the courier that they have chosen. If your quote is accepted you will receive immediate notification of the acceptance by email, and the job will be listed under your “jobs awaiting delivery” section. You are required to contact the people at both the collection and delivery ends within 24 hours to let them know when they anticipate delivering the item in question.
What are my obligations?
You are required make arrangements for the collection and delivery of the item within the time period that you quoted for. We appreciate that couriers are quoting cheaper prices on Boxby on the basis of fitting the jobs in around other scheduled work. The customer is advised that they cannot set out very restrictive periods for collection or delivery unless these were detailed in the job listing, or if unless their requirement match arrangements that you volunteered in your additional information that you provided along with your quote.
You are required to make contact with the people at both collection and delivery locations within 24 hours of being notified of the acceptance of your quotation. And you are expected to fulfil arrangements for dates & times for pickup and delivery of the job which you have notified or agreed with the customer.
What checks do you do on new couriers?
All new couriers are required to submit a copy of their goods in transit insurance, which shows their business name, and that they have appropriate cover for undertaking courier work obtained through boxby.
The terms and conditions also ask couriers to confirm that they are fit and proper people to undertake courier work, including being of an appropriate age, having no legal convictions etc.
What is Goods in Transit Insurance?
If you need to ask this question then you really shouldn’t be registering as a courier on Boxby. Boxby is for properly formed courier and delivery business, sole traders, partnerships or companies, new or well established. But all are required to have the skills and knowledge suitable for performing the courier jobs that you are quoting on. Boxby is not for people that want to use their cars or vans for running a couple of delivery jobs for a bit of extra cash. If you have to ask what GIT is, then I would suggest that this isn’t for you.
What if I provide inaccurate or incomplete information in the registration form?
Your information can be updated through your profile, at any point after your registration. If the information you provide is fraudulent then your registration will be deleted, and you will be liable for any losses which may be incurred by the customers as a result of your incorrect disclosure.
